NHS Lifestyle Guides

The Lifestyle Guide service, part of the NHS Health Trainer service, is a national initiative designed to provide individuals with tailored, personal support to help them improve their health and wellbeing.

Lifestyle Guides are trained to support adults to make positive changes in their lives by offering ongoing encouragement and motivational support to help individualsto focus on specific areas of their health that concern them. This might include losing weight, eating more healthily, taking more exercise, reducing their alcohol consumption or stopping smoking. This is achieved through a process of one to one support and, where appropriate, signposting and supporting access to related NHS services. Clients can either self refer or with consent be referred into the service by health professionals.

The service has been running since October 2009 and currently serves residents of the following areas: Fullers Slade, Fishermead, Tinkers Bridge, Wolverton, Greenleys, Beanhill, Coffee Hall, Central Bletchley, Bradville.

Heatwave Planning

Heatwaves are forecast to increase in frequency over the coming years.

The Heatwave Plan for England gives important guidance on how to reduce the impact on health and in doing so, will save lives.

It's important that we all know how to look after ourselves and others during a heatwave. Looking After Yourselves and Others During Hot Weather offers invaluable advice on keeping cool in the heat.

While extreme heat presents health risks to everyone, it is especially dangerous to older people and those in care homes. Supporting Vulnerable People Before and During a Heatwave - Advice for Care Home Managers and Staff and Advice for Health and Social Care Professionals.

Improving Our Premises' Environments

NHS Milton Keynes owns/leases and manages many properties across Milton Keynes and we are aware that the standard of premises is not uniform. Numerous and various services are delivered to our patients in these premises.

We are interested to know what our staff and patients opinions are of the premises where they receive our services and we hope that you will take the time to complete our questionnaire. The results of this survey will be published on our website.

Thank you for your time.
